John Wayne won for Rooster Cogburn in "True Grit". Nuff said.

aghghg... then what happened? The clip needs to be longer! I actually saw this in the theater when I was just a young pup of 9. I just looked it up on IMDB and Dennis Hopper is also in this? I recognized Robert Duvall, but didn't know about Hopper. Great pick, it's why I love this meme and everyone who participates. Thanks for the memories!

P.S.:

I intend to kill you in just about five minutes, or see you hanged in Fort Smith at Judge Parker's convenience, which will it be?

I say that's BOLD TALK from a ONE-EYED FAT MAN!

Fill your hand, you son of a bitch!

Well, I'm glad Pam jinxed you instead of me for a change. I think this was John Waynes best role. Dennis Hopper was Moon (how appropriate) in the dugout chopping up the turkey with the knife. And Mattie Ross has to be one of the most annoying characters in movie history. I'm surprised Kim Darby didn't get a best supporting actress nod. This movie has a lot of memorable characters in it.

Happy MCW!

I am married to the biggest John Wayne fan ever. He can recite every bit of dialog from this movie, no lie. Through him, I have come to be a fan, too. Great pick. Happy MCW on a Tuesday!

OK, let me see if I can post all me responses before I hit "enter" and there is nothing there. It's a challenge being me. And most of the time, no picnic. Anyway.....

Boxer,
It was between this clip that is cut short and one over 10 minutes long. I chose this one. It pissed me off as well.

Pam,
"Rooster, will you give us the road?" Greal line. The dialogue in this movie, especially by Mattie, is awesome. Sorry to steal your thunder. I didn't think I'd be in my office today so posted last night before pool league.

BK,
Hopper has a great role albeit small. Its fun watching movies and seeing someone who is now a big star. Tim Robbins in Top Gun is another example.

Moi,
If you don't love The Duke, you don't love America. IMHO of course.

Wait a second, I LOVE America, but I am NOT a John Wayne fan.
At all!
However, one of my other all time favorite movies is "The Quiet Man", which I was going to use for my MCW, but I couldn't find a postable clip.
I have seen "True Grit" though, and it IS a fantastic movie!
Great choice!

Scarlet,
Exceptions, as always, will be made. I love any Duke movie with Maureen O'Hara. Redhead, voluptuous beautiful. Three of my favorite things.

Okay, I feel the need to discuss this movie further. You know, of course, that it is meant to take place in Indian Territory. I could never figure out why there weren't mountains where I live, when obviously there should be based on this movie. ALSO, and I have yet to discover who it is, but SOMEONE in this building where I work, is paged by the name "J. Noble Daggett". As in the operator gets on the loudspeaker and says, "Paging J. Noble Daggett, please call the operator". It is my sworn duty to find out who it is before I ever leave this place.

Pam, that is awesome!!

Good afternoon MRM,

Jinx or no, you picked a fine clip. Could you please remind me how the scene ends. I can't remember. Sometimes I hate getting old.

Karl, if I'm not mistaken, Glen Campbell shoots Duval. There's a great scene where Wayne introduces Campbell's character as "the great horse shooter from Texax" or something close. Good times.

I thought that was it, I just couldn't remember for sure. Thanks
