Movie Clip Wednesday "Best Sequel"

Well as mentioned last week, I'm the host for June as Boxer is kind of busy this month.  This week's theme is "Best Sequel".  I had a lot of hard choices to make.  Do I go with Look who's talking too? Or Grease 2?  Of course there were many to chose from but the best sequel is Godfather 2. It's really two complete movies in one.  You get the tale of how Vito  Corleone came to America.  How Michael has turned into a ruthless mobster. But most importantly you get to see the difference between Michael and his father.  Vito the family man who became a gangster as it was the only life he ever knew and Michael the college educated war hero who always puts the business before his family.  The first clip is a deleted scene which I did see on AMC when the ran the movies chronilogically which is the most awesome way to watch it.  Any, in the first clip, Don Fanucci is almost killed.  Vito makes the statement that you don't almost kill someone.  It's the first time you get a hint of how much he learned as a child in Sicily.  The second clip is the kiss of death when Michael tells Fredo he knows that Fredo set him to be hit.  Fredo's look of mortification is priceless.

With the release of the A Team, I've decided to ask you for your favorite TV show that was made into a movie.  That should be fun as well.  Remember to post your movie in the comments and your write up on your blog.  Looking forward to the posts.

There are a lot of sequels out there and although the Godfather is one of my favorite movies, I can't believe I didn't consider Godfather 2. The scene that you selected with Deniro walking the streets with all of the activity going on was really good. Nice cinematography. The scene I like the most is when they are all sitting around the family table (at the end) for Vito's birthday.

I'm up at the Buzzkill with selection - punks.

I'll be around tonight to visit everyone.

Happy MCW!

Hi Madman,
I've never seen any of the Godfather movies... I guess being threatened with having my knees capped as a teen was enough to help me to avoid glorifying Mob behaviour! In any form...
Any way there are a lot of people that class these movies as their favourites of all time... go Figure???
I'm up with something a little tamer this week...
Happy MCW...

Good morning MRM,

I like the first clip.
"they're not murderers they're just teaching him a lesson" now there's a line for you.

Sorry I missed last week. I missed that you were taking over.

I'm up with After the Thin Man.

What IS it about men and The Godfather? It was over for me with the horse head on the pillow. Ugh!
I don't post movie clips but if I did ... I think it would have to be the second 007 with Sean Connery.
Great that you are hosting MCW for June.

BK, that is a great scene. The family is still central.

Your Highness, it doesn't really glorify behavior but is more of a tale of man's inner struggles.

Karl, that is a great line as well. I like how Vito just hides in the shadows while Fanucci screams for help.

Fishy, I could watch the Godfather over and over again. Could almost have a 'what is your favorite scene from the Godfather" theme but I don't know if I could pick one so I'll try to stay more general in my ideas.

No doubt one of the finest films ever made. I'm not playing this week, but like I said over at Buzz's place, had I had time, I would have posted the Road Warrior. Hard to believe given his current incarnation that Mel G. was once that hubba hubba. Happy MCW and thanks for hosting—I'll be around next week.

I would have blog jinxed you if life hadn't prevented me from participating. What a great movie... both of them. We'll just forget about, er, cough... 3.

Happy MCW. I'll be back next week.

Moi, Road Warrior was a great sequel. Excellent choice without a post.

JC, have never watched a single episode but by all accounts it was a good program. Liked your entries from last week as well. Princess had "Dam Busters" as an entry and I've never heard of it.

Boxer, actually I'm surprised there are any other entries except G2. Kidding people. Just Kidding.

Here I thought after that 3rd beer we had decided on "Honey I Blew up the Kids"... After much deliberation on the drive home from Bozeman I decided on "Terminator 2"...
