MCW Favorite British Comedy

Welcome back to Movie Clip Wednesday. The Boxer inspired meme where you come here to see what the theme is, find a clip of about three minutes, come back here to say "you're up" and then we'll come and visit and give you our two bits. This week's theme is "Favorite British Comedy" a suggestion from Moi.

I'm not gonna lie, I've had better weeks.  It's like someone cut the artery to my ambition and that it's pumping out of me in a fast way.  Just got nothin.  Add that to the sadness I feel for both Chickory and Aunty Belle and well, I'm hoping I can come up with something that's worth a damn.

While I love British comedies on both the big and small screen, I don't watch near as many of them as I should.  Partly because of time, partly because of laziness and partly because on some of them I can't understand a word they're saying.  Although I did come to this post with a movie in mind I actually did some research as well to see where I would come out.

When I googgled "Best British Comedy Movies" the list was quite long.  I browsed through it and went with my initial choice.

I don't remember exactly when I saw this movie but I do remember it being entertaining so I went with my first choice of the original "Bedazzled" with Peter Cook and Dudley Moore and oh yeah and RAQUEL WELCH at the her absolute hottest.  I had to open a window after I watched this clip and it's only +1 outside.   Yowzah!!

I often think that Dudley Moore doesn't get the credit he is due for being one of the finest comic actors of his time.  I founnd him to be brilliant not to mention his musical ability as well.

Here's one more.  My favorite part is the 2:03 mark.  I watched it five times. Happy MCW.

I'm feeling for Chickory and Aunty too and it sounds like you have a case of the "Blog Blahs" on top of worry about our Blog Friends.

..... NOTHING beats the blues like a good comedy..... I'm up with MONTY PYTHON and the HOLY GRAIL.

Are you getting ready to hang the reins back over, friend? You know I'm ready anytime you are.

Happy MCW!

I was never much of a fan of Peter Cook and Dudley Moore, other than in their Derek and Clive incarnation - lots of expletives but very funny.

I did enjoy Dudley in 10 and obviously these sketches are very good. Perhaps I should give them another try.

My thoughts are with Chick and Aunty also x

I thought about Dudley Moore in Arthur but didn't consider that a British film. I've not seen Bedazzled (and I'll have to watch it tonight because of the office firewall) but AI have seen clips of Cook and Moore. I think they were big until Moore did 10 and went off on his own.

I'm up at the Buzzkill with a police hijinks - British style.

I'll be around tonight (hopefully) to visit. Hope everyone is all dug out. I got off easy with rain today. Good thoughts for Aunty and Chicky.

Happy MCW!

I never saw this, but I did see the remake with Liz Hurley and Brendan Fraser, which I thought was pretty darn funny.

I'm up!

Good morning MRM,

The collective grief that we all feel for Auntie and Chickory is normal. When you're part of a community and we are a community. Just a widely spaced one.

I haven't seen your movie. The funny thing is when reading down through the list of British comedies I thought I had seen it. But I would've remembered that scene with Raquel Welch.

I'm up with Victor/Victoria.

Boxer,
Good comedy is a great cure all.

JC,
From my youtube search it would appear that Cook/Moore were a comedy team. Something I didn't know.

Buzz,
Moore also had a bit part in a Chevy Chase/Goldie Hawn movie whose title eludes me. Though small (that's not a short joke, Im talking about his roll) he was very funny.

Troll,
I'll be right over.

Moi,
I saw the Hurley/Frazer verzion and was quite entertained by it as well. There was something about the original that made me come back to it. I think it was the lightheartedness Cook protrayed as the devil and Moore taggin along telling him how bad he was. Except when the bagged ripped. Even Moore thought that was funny.

Karl,
I didnt remember her either but I have a memory burn now.

Hi there :)

What was the number one and worst film of the year 2010 in your oppinion? In my view it would have to be:

Finest: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1

Worst: A Nightmare on Elm Street

Thanks a lot :) <3

Hi MRM! I'm up on my page too. I think we are all worried for Aunty and Chickie, it is tough tough tough times.

However, I can't believe I have NEVER seen this movie! I saw the re-make with Elizabeth Hurley but this looks hysterical. I agree with you about Dudley Moore, too. I may have to dig this up somewhere and watch from the beginning. I feel sorry for Jesus having his birthday on Christmas ... grrrhahahahah!
