When do you drop a facebook friend?

When I went home for the all-class reunion in Malta this past summer, I had more than a few people tell me I needed to join facebook.  Personally I think face book is a little Gary without the "r" but I did it anyway.  "Its the only way I communicate" was the biggest reason everyone was on it. It's a stupid way to communicate IMO but hey to each their own.  Anyway, I joined so that I could stay in touch with some of these folks.  I figured that if this was the only way they communicated that I'd better so that I can stay in touch.  Too many good people I haven't seen and I certainly didn't want to drift again.

After joining, I started receiving "friend" requests and took most of them.  So here's the deal.  I had this girl I knew in college friend me.  We barely knew each other.  Played co-ed softball on spring but she is good friends with another girl from college that I love like a sister and I'm sure we were suggested blah, blah, blah.  So this chick is all pro-health care.  That's fine.   We all want reform, just not this bill. She is posting plenty of lies information from the pro-health care crowd and there is some very polite exchanges from friends of hers that see things a different way, me being one of those.  In my defense, I have been very polite and gentile in my criticism.  I don't think facebook is the place to have an aggressive debate with stupid other people who think that different.  Not a heated debated anyway.  You can certainly have a fun time taking swipes at one another but not get seriously heated and I did not.  Actually, I only commented on three different "threads" or whatever they are called on facebook.  I tried to find my last post but it had been removed.  But this is where it gets really interesting.  I can no longer comment on her page.  I can comment on everyone elses age so I'm assuming she's block me from commenting.  I can still access her page and read all of her posts but I can't add my two cents. 

So this is the question: if this "friend" is so fragile that she can't or doesn't want anyone elses opinion on her page that is different from her own and we aren't and never have been close do I just unfriend her or shrug and roll with it?

Movie Clip Wednesday 3/17/10 - Uncas

Here's this week's contribution. The death of Uncas. I love this scene. The touch on his father's shoulder as he leaves to head of Magua. There is no fear in Uncas. The hand to hand fight with Magua is incredible. You can tell after the first exchange that Uncas is shocked that he's been wounded. Yet, further in and mortally wounded, he continues to fight to save Alice.

It was a tough choice as the death of Duncan and the defeat of Magua are both great scenes as well. Duncan giving his life for Cora at the end so that she can be with Hawkeye is awesome. The quickest tournaround from douchebag to super stud in movie history.

Here is the death of Uncas. Its a little bit of a montage set to the music of "Promentory" which is the best song on the soundtrack. Happy MCW.

What's in it for Harry Reid?

Here's a question as Congress gets ready to pass this abomination of legislation disguised as health care "reform".  What's in it for Harry Reid?  A man of less principle is hard to find in DC.  One would have to go all the way to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue to find a man of less moral conviction.  Harry Reid is a career politician and the Senate Majority leader.  He is also trailing every republican candidate in Nevada for re-election.  Not one.  EVERY one.  All four.  Is it just me or does this strike anyone else as odd?  I mean, this guy is going to give not only his Senate seat, but his position as the leader of the Senate.  All for health care "reform".  Are we to believe that this man has that much conviction on the issue of health care "reform".

I'm sorry but I'm not buying it.  Let's check back here this time next year and see what Harry is doing.  I guaranfuckingtee it will be making lots and lots of money for something tied to health care "reform".  Guys like Harry don't leave jobs like that of a U.S. Senator, especially as Majority Leader, if they aren't going to make lots of money.  Hell, Tom Daschle even had dead Indians voting twice for him he was so desperate to keep his seat.  This entire bill is prime for corruption and the erosion of our system as we know it and Harry will be making lots of money.

I wonder how many sob stories there will be after the government takes over our health care industry as compared to the absolute bullshit these spineless pukes, better know as Democrats, have been pulling out lately. Get ready America.  We are about to become a firs-rate, second-rate nation. 

And yet, more health care.

It's well worth the read but if you're pressed for time here's the last paragraph:

Anyway. I don't see how you can crack the barn door and not expect the horses to do nothing more than stick the points of their noses through. We either decide we are a country individuals free to make our own way, free to take responsibility for our lives and those of our families and loved ones, free to ask for help and free to give it, OR we decide we are a country of victims who in lieu of striving and creating, demand to have everything handed to us and enslave ourselves and our neighbors in order to do so.

I don’t see any in between. If you do, tell me. I’d love to know what it is.

They're remaking "True Grit"

So, I was doing a little snooping today about True Grit.  Karl had asked me how the scene I posted ends as it cuts away before we see what happens.  I'm pretty sure Glen Campbell shoots Duval.  Anyway, the Coen's are remaking True Grit. Are they fucking crazy?  I don't give a rats ass what this review says.  You can't remake this movie and do better than the original.  Hollywood hasn't done it yet.  Further proof that Hollywood is full of a bunch of lazy fuck-alls.  Don't know yet if I will go.  Jeff Bridges as Rooster? Matt Damon as La Bouf? Josh Brolin as Tom Cheney?  Hmmmm, good actors all but find me a bigger bunch of wusses (the greater DC  area excluded).

I did find some videos for the auditions for Mattie Ross.  They were fun to watch.

I mean really.  Why mess with this movie?  You know what else is going to piss me off to the point of wanting to kick someone right in their wedding tackle?  Here it is.  When this movie is released, some jackass reviewer is going to be quoted as saying "better than the original" and "Bridges IS Rooster Cogburn".  I will hunt him down like gut shot mule deer and beat his eye teeth back into his uvula.  Just sayin.
