Welcome to Movie Clip Wednesday. Boxer put me in charge of this meme "temporarily" a few months ago. That's kind of like loaning me a golf club. "Hey, can I try out your driver that you don't hit anymore?" If that happens the chances are close to zero you will ever see it again. Its harder than it looked . Keeping this meme going. It reminds of the "Seinfeld" episode where George takes the job parking cars and screws it all up and the guy says "any fool can park a car".
However, not knowing when to quit is one of strengths. Most of you know how it works but if you're new here (for which I greatly thank you) here's how it works. A theme is picked each week. You choose a movie to fit the theme and find a clip, preferably three minutes or less, and post it on your blog. Announce in the comment section of this post that you are up and we'll come and pay you a visit. It's simple really.
This week's theme, which was posted on Thursday, September 30th, in the year of our Lord 2010 AD, which is plenty of notice for virtually everyone on planet Earth, is favorite/best black and white movie. When I was a Netflix subscriber, I decided to watch all of the classics I had never seen before. Like On the Waterfront, A Streetcar named Desire, Citizen Kane and many others. I made it through the aforementioned along with some other great movies. As noted in last week's theme Gone with the wind didn't make it into my DVD player. Anywhoo, though I'm a big fan of Casablanca and Young Frankenstein the movie I consider the best black and white, if not the best thing I've ever watched is All Quiet on the Western Front. I thought it was very well done, especially in the time of overacting. The scene I've chosen is the ending scene of the movie. Funny how I couldn't find this scene when the theme was "best/favorite death scene" but that's my luck all the way.
Nest week's theme will be up in the next day or so under the "Movie Clip Wednesday" banner so keep your eyes peeled.
Man, these pretzels are making me thirsty.

Good evening MRM,
Interesting choice. Have you ever read a book by the name of War of the Rats. If not you may want to look for it.
I'm up, with a creature from the deep.
Happy clip day!
Hi Madman,
I'm up with a silent classic...
appy MCW.
You are still doing Boxer Proud you know...
This is a good movie although I think I liked the 1979 Hallmark Hall of Fame version with Richard Thomas and Ernest Borgnine a little better. I read on IMDB that they are planning a remake for 2012, but no other details.
I had PLENTY of time this week to do this theme. Thank you. I'm up at the Buzzkill with a B&W that tells a story about how "a boy's best friend is his mother". I'll be around tomorrow night to visit everyone.
Happy MCW!
These pretzels are making me fat.
Very interesting choice and your comments make me want to watch it. I'll be up later this evening with my choice (if my auto post works correctly) ... I might have used it on a MCW before, but it is still a fun one.
Great pic, late to tell you but I am up and will try to get round everyone later tonight x
You have been a most splendid host and if you need help with theme topics, let us know and we'll put our brains together.
You know what? I don't think I've ever seen this movie. Gulp. Best get on it.
Anyway, I'm up!
Ive never seen this and i think its really long, isnt it? Looks like i have another one to add to my list - somebody picked saving private ryan in one of the previous MCW's and i havent seen that either. i hate hollywood too - but even they get it right now and then.
