Movie clip Wednesday "Best opening scene"

Hello and welcome to this week's edition of Movie Clip Wednesday. The wonderful Boxer has continued to let me host and this week's theme is "best opening scene".  While there are many, I had to narrow it down to all the James Bond movies.  I have the Scene It edition of Bond and am undeafeted while playing.  Although there are many I narrowed it down to two. The first is my all time favorite Bond beginning.  It's the first time since the death of his wife in On Her Majesty's Secret Service that we are reminded that Bond was married.  It's also the last time that Ernst Stavro Blofeld who was my favorite bad guy makes an appearance.  One of the reasons I like Roger Moore so much as Bond is because he was always so cool under pressure and this scene is the best example of that.  Enjoy and thanks for participating. Next week's theme is "movie that when I see it while channel surfing I stop and watch no matter what part of the movie is showing".

The second is from Dr. No. The best theme song EVER.  I just love it when the music starts playing and Bond pulls something out of his ass.  Totally awesome.  I can still remember the first time I saw the movie and thought Bond was the coolest guy who ever lived.  Enjoy. I couldn't find a clip where he says for the first time "Bond. James Bond".  So disappointed.

Ooooh, I'm almost ALMOST blog jinxed with you! Went with another Bond movie for various other reasons. Although, I have to admit, For Your Eyes Only is my favorite of the whole series. Great choices. And Her Majesty's Secret Service is totally under-rated and once you see it again you realize where Mike Myers got most of his Austin Powers jokes.

Pam,
Absolutey where Myers' humor came from. Almost went with OHMSS for Lazenby's great line "This never happened to the other fellow". He was great in his one and only appearance as Bond. It's a great story and he was stellar.

I'm up at the Buzzkill with a "natural" best opening scene. Coincidentally, this movie was on Showtime (or Cinemax or one of those movie channels) last night. I'll be around tonight to see everyone's posts.

Happy MCW!

Well you know what they say, great minds think alike. I'm up with Goldfinger.

Wow, so many Bond fans, but you're all correct; Bond movies do have the best openings.

I'm up with THE PLAYER.

Happy MCW!

Dr. No is the best of the Bond films, in my opinion. Although I did like the second to last one, the first one featuring Daniel Craig. It had an, um, muscular energy that hasn't been seen in a Bond flick in a while :o)

And that opening music! Some of the most iconic and era-specific around.

Happy Move Clip Wednesday and I'm UP, with Charade.

Austin Powers made the Bond movies more watchable for me. Great choice.

Dr. Evil: All right guard, begin the unnecessarily slow-moving dipping mechanism.
[guard starts dipping mechanism]

Dr. Evil: Close the tank!

Scott Evil: Wait, aren't you even going to watch them? They could get away!

Dr. Evil: No no no, I'm going to leave them alone and not actually witness them dying, I'm just gonna assume it all went to plan. What?

Scott Evil: I have a gun, in my room, you give me five seconds, I'll get it, I'll come back down here, BOOM, I'll blow their brains out!

Dr. Evil: Scott, you just don't get it, do ya? You don't.

Happy MCW!
