MCW "Favorite Fantasy Movie"

Welcome to another edition of Movie Clip Wednesday.  This is where you read the theme posted under the banner, find a clip of about three minutes long that somewhat resembles said theme and then post it on your blog.  Come here and tell all of us you are up and rolling and we'll come and give it a look. PNW native and resident sparring expert Boxer came up with this and now we just roll with it.  This week's theme is favorite fantasy movie.

I guess I think of fantasy movies as movies set in some past time before guns and electricity.  In the land of dragons, wild beasts and dare I say it, trolls. I could have taken some easy choice here like The Princess Bride, which I love, but I wanted to think outside the box a little

I decided to go old school here with a couple of early 80's classic. Lets see what Buzz remembers about these. I'm going to have a tough time myself as I haven't watched either of them in almost 30 years. First up is Krull. I wasn't a big fan of the main actor in this.  Can't remember his name and didn't look it up.  I do remember that the story wasn't bad, love the cyclops and the firemares.  The ending was kind of odd but if you have the chance and like cheesy B fantasy movies then I highly recommend it.

Next up is one of the all time classic B movies from the 1980's.  The timeless masterpiece The Sword and the Sorcerer starring Matt Houston Lee Horsley.  Horsley was kind of a sex symbol in the early 80's. I wonder why?  6'3", Texan kind of a poor man's Tom Selleck.  Anyway, he was awesome in TSATS. He also starred in a TV series called Matt Houston where he was a private detective.  Like I said, poor man's Tom Selleck. Anyway, was watching TSATS at my friend Jim's house because he had satellite TV back then.  Remember those big satellite dishes that you had to set up with a crane and eight guys, well he had one. So we're watching TSATS and Jim says "Holy shit!! It's Matt Houston."  The sunny slopes of long ago. Horsley was born in Muleshoe, Texas.  Honest to God.  You can't make that stuff up. The bad guy in this movie is Richard Moll better know as Bull from the show Night Court.  Bull is the evil villain. HAHAHAHHAHAHA. Yeah right. Hot chick in this is some woman named Kathleen Beller.  I think I had a thing for her back in the day what with that dark hair, olive skin and she was on Dynasty which I never missed.  Happy MCW.  Wait! Forget about reading the Dynasty thing.  That was typo. Thanks.

P.S. I have pool league tonight so will be around for a couple of comments after that.  I am leaving Wednesday morning for some meetings and won't be back until Thursday night so I'll finish my rounds then.

I dont know that movie or Matt Houston. As to the Princess Bride, I enjoyed it but not as much as the hype suggested I would :)

Im up with something from a long time ago and something more recent but less obvious :)

Krull was a pretty good sword fighting movie but I never sae the Sword and the Sorcerer. I always like a good medieval slash em up flick. You know, I almost went with Troll just to be a smart ass.

I'm up at the Buzzkill Buzzkillwith THE greatest fantasy movie body oil could buy.

I'll be around tonight to visit (after I finish shoveling snoe).

Happy MCW!

Haven't seen either and I'm the only person on Earth who hasn't seen "princess bride".

I'm UP.

Seen both, liked Princess Bride, but, like Cake, didn't "love" it. I scratched my head at Krull, but then again, I'm not much for fantasy flicks in general.

I'm UP, though, and thanks again for hosting!

Interesting choices this week.

I am not a movie buff and know very little about fantasy movies. But I did like
The Last Legion .... I love books and movies about Arthur Pendragon.

Happy Wednesday to all.

Good evening MRM,

Sorry, I couldn't play today. Can't watch clips either.

Never saw Klull, but Princess Bride had one of the best sword fights since Erol Flinn and Basil Rathbone had at it.

Happy Clip Day All!

Never seen this, but love your descriptions. Muleshoe, Texas, like there is something wrong with the name of that town. Hrumph! We quote The Princess Bride daily around this house. Who are you? My name is Inigo Montoya, you killed my father, prepare to die. As you wish! Inconceivable!

Happy MCW, I got nuttin.
