I'm Brett Favre and I'm in love with myself.

So, lets get something straight. Brett Favre is a great quarterback. On of the best ever. He's not the best ever nor is he in the top five but top ten for sure. I have never once said that he isn't a great player. However, I have maintained steadfastly for at least the last 10 years that he is not the simple "aw, shucks y'all can come to my house for a beer anytime" kind of guy the way he is portrayed in the media or by every fucking Packer fan when he was wearing green. He is a narcissist on the level of Barack Obama and Bill Clinton.  He's an "its all about me guy" exactly the same as Terrell Owens, Michael Irvin and Deon Sanders.  To think otherwise is to totally ignore his behavior of the last 10 years. I'm holding the Packers hostage while I decide whether or not I'm playing.  I won't take myself out of game with a 40 point lead to let some one get some snaps.  I won't take myself out of a game with and injured hand that made me throw a football like Barack Obama  that helped me get Ray Rhoads fired.  Classless is too kind of a word to describe him.  But I've known that for years.

Now we have the latest display of self obsession and Farve wanting to see himself be the lead story on Sportscenter the next 2-3 weeks.  It's Favre at his best.  Pretending to not know if he will or will not play.  Adding to his legend of being a tough player.  It's Bus Cook, Shitstains  Favre's agent, saying its not about the money ($13 million guaranteed this year) while the Vikings are willing to make it $16 million with another $4 million in incentives.  Why would they do that if money had not been brought up or discussed?  Because they like him that much?

My beef is that why does Favre get the free pass?  Is it more proof of how much the liberal media hates black athletes?  Afterall, the aforementioned, save Favre, are all black men. Yet when I bring up how big a prima donna Favre is, these are the first names thrown around.  Aw, the sweet smell of subtle racism.

Someone said that Irvin got a free pass when he was with the Cowboys but let's remember that then the media wasn't ever present and the blogosphere did not exist.  Even without those, we knew far more about Irvin and he was constantly criticized.  Favre is a former drug addict. No one mentions this.  He was is was a philanderer. Free pass even though there is a story at  Deadspin about what I wouldn't call "normal" behavior.  None of the major media outlets are reporting this, but they didn't hesitate to when other athletes did the same thing.  Funny that. Odd how his hillbilly charm appeals to the same masses who hate NASCAR.

He is a phony.  If his wife was terminal and was going to die on gameday, she'd die in the hospital with him on the field.  If his mother's funeral was held on Monday, he wouldn't go if he had to miss a start.

Brett Favre will start on opening day.  Bet on it.  He started the rumor about not coming to camp and then said he hadn't decided.  Or maybe ESPN was just doing some more crack reporting  that we've all grown used to.  Either way, Brett is running threw the swamps of Mississippi right now yelling "Look at me! Look at me!  I'm the lead story at ESPN.  They can't say anything bad about me either because then I'll quit talking to them. Neener, neener, neener."

It's not very Christian I know, but I hope I see him go down with some devastating, career ending, need to walk with a cane for the rest of his life injury.  It wouldn't make me feel bad.  If I can't have that, then how about another season ending interception.  I know I'm not getting tire of those.

So tell me again what you think about Brett Favre? I think I might have missed it.

"Not very Christian" would be wishing cancer on him. Having suffered through the TO years with the Eagles, I don't think Favre is that bad.

I have always been a firm believer that professional athletes should take coures on etiquette, finances, english, being a role model and humility before entering the pros. 60 to 80 percent of professional athletes are broke within five years after they retire. I think that says it all.

Pam, I'm kind of on the fence with him. Can't you tell?

Buzz, you would think that all of those might have been taught to them by their parents. While some athletes are very grounded because of how they were raised, most are brought up infallible because to many parents are living their own lives through their children's athletic success.

Making fun of Brett Favre is one of my spousal unit's most guilty of pleasures. Man grates my every last nerve, too.

So who is the Top 5?? And careful with the Ray Rhodes Era. Go back and look at the first 4 games of that season, Ray might not have made it to November cause "the antichrist had a hot right arm" at crunch time that September. No arguments from me on the rest of it however.
